Hit-and-Run Tourism Fought by Uffizi Gallery in Florence With New Strategy

by Tammy Levent

The Uffizi Gallery of Florence is implementing new ideas to combat hit-and-run tourism. New museum director Eike Schmidt hopes that raising general admissions will curtail the crowds of disinterested tourists, while lower season passes will reward the loyalty and interest of true fans and admirers of the Renaissance collections. Prices are expected to be 12-20 euros for a day pass depending on the season, and 50 euros for the annual pass.
